I was given the task to research a disability. I chose to research Rheumatoid Arthritis as it could be a unique design challenge to create a mobile user interface for people that may have trouble manipulating their fingers. My grandmother also suffers from Rheumatoid Arthritis. Having an app could help her keep track of her medications and condition.

Initially, I envisioned this app from the perspective of people suffering from arthritis. Patients would use the app Joint Effort to monitor their symptoms, triggers, and their medications. After a critique, I decided it would be more beneficial to look at the design from the viewpoint of a medical professional. The apps goal is to interface with their patients to monitor their condition and medications.
Joint Effort’s new purpose is to allow healthcare professionals to correspond with patients suffering from Rheumatoid Arthritis and send notifications to remind them to take their medication. Rheumatoid Arthritis is an incurable disease, this app does not attempt to cure their affliction, instead helping them cope with their condition.
